Sports Weekend 9/28
On Wednesday, the Marvelwood Cross Country Team was on the road again, this time to the Storm King School which hosted their invitational. Five schools in total came to the event: Hoosac, Oakwood Friends School, New York Military Academy, Darrow, and Woodhall. Thomas Howell ‘20, the team's captain, dashed through the course and as he came to the finish line he sprinted his way to the end, passing the top seed for the Storm King School! Lily Brownlee ‘21 earned fifth place medal for her time in the girl's race of 21:18! Peter Miller ‘21 and Michael Labarge ‘21 both cut two minutes off of their original times at the last Oakwood Friends School Invitational. Unfortunately, Marvelwood came in second place overall, but it's only the beginning of the season and there is more to come!
Marvelwood Girls Soccer traveled to Poughkeepsie Day School on Monday. This game featured league rivals and was bound to be good from the start. It was a very hot and humid day. About halfway through the first half, the ball was sent down the field to Jade Kennedy '22 who found the back of the net, one of her two goals on the day. After some great play and near-goals by the blue and white, Dani Ruderman '21 was simply unstoppable in the second half. She scored four goals on the day, helping our girls to a 6-2 victory. The Girls Varsity Team will travel to Harvey School for a match on Friday.
