The Amber Guyger Case

The Amber Guyger Case

A White police officer, Amber Guyger, shot an African American citizen named Botham Jean because she thought Jean was in her apartment, when in fact Guyger actually was in the wrong apartment. For her tragic mistake, Guyger received a sentence of ten years in prison from judge, Tammy Kemp. What’s created all the media attention is that after the trial Guyger received a hug from Jean’s father and brother. She also received a hug from Kemp. Kemp extended her condolences to the Jean family and told Ms. Guyger, “she has a lot of life to live.”
