Sports Week 27-31

The boys in blue picked up a huge out of conference win over Harvey School on Monday. Bryan Thiam '21 put home an amazing shot past the keeper with a classic Jabari Decoteau '23 assist to give Marvelwood the lead, Harvey put up a fight and came back with one late goal in the first half. Axel Juarez '22 streaked down the field and smashed a shot into the bottom right corner for the lead and the win late into the second half! It was a solid overall performance for the Pterodactyls as they continue their season on the road to Wednesday’s match against Oakwood Friends School.

Marvelwood traveled to Oakwood with both the junior varsity and varsity teams, allowing everyone to get a chance to play. The JV team started the game and gave Oakwood a good challenging match. They struggled to break through the Oakwood defense and, at one point, the opponents were awarded a penalty kick. Luckily, Dante Abad ’21, who was playing in goal at the time, made the save. Eventually, Axel Juarez ’22 tapped his way around the defense and sent the ball into the bottom corner of the net for the score. The second half began with the varsity team on the field and they finally started to pull things together. Five goals were scored within 20 minutes! Jabari Decoteau ’23 scored two goals, both assisted by Bryan Thiam '21. Axel scored another goal along with Harrison Velasquez ’21. Bryan scored the final goal, and with twenty minutes left in the half, the junior varsity team took the field to finish the game.
